Screening tests available include cholesterol, glucose, A1C, and blood pressure. Health educators will be available at the screening to help you understand your results and what the information means for your health.

IMPORTANT: If you plan to have your cholesterol tested, please do not eat any food or drink any beverages other than water ("fast") for at least 9 hours before your test appointment for more accurate biometric numbers.

The mission of the Community Health Education Center (CHEC) is to inform and empower patients, families, community members, and hospital staff by providing current, evidence-based health information. Visiting the CHEC can be an important step in accessing health education, wellness programs, and services in our community.

CHEC services are available to anyone in our community, regardless of whether they are currently a patient at Salem Health.

The CHEC is open Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and can be reached by phone at 503-814-2432 or by email at CHEC@salemhealth.org

Scholarships: Financial assistance is available to those who need help to attend our programs. We may be able to offer a discount and/or waive registration costs depending on the situation. Please call our staff if you need assistance. (Court Mandated Classes are not eligible for scholarships)

Refund Policy: We will allow refunds if requested at least seven days prior to the first class session. Any refund requests made less than seven days before the first class session may be granted in the event of a medical or personal emergency. No refunds will be given once a program begins. In the event of program cancellation, the CHEC will automatically issue a refund to all attendees.
