Description
The Diabetes Day for Educators program will give you the confidence to help young children/school aged students manage their type 1 diabetes in early childhood/school settings.
Who is this program for?
Early learning educators – childcare and kindergartens
Before and after school care (OSHC) educators
School educators – primary & secondary
School Holiday program educators
Camp provider staff
The program will cover:
What is diabetes
Rights and responsibilities for education setting
Working with the Diabetes Action and Management Plans
Planning for change and communication
Monitor glucose levels (including practical workshop)
Insulin (does not include training on injections/pumps)
Low and high glucose levels
Food and diabetes
Being active
Camps and excursions
