Diabetes NZ Auckland Youth: Whānau Fun Day for Diabetes Action Month 2025
Event description
Diabetes NZ Auckland Youth are excited to invite you to a whānau day of fun to celebrate Diabetes Action Month and bring our community together.
The Whānau Fun Day is open to all tamariki/children and rangatahi/youth living with diabetes, along with siblings, parents/carers/grandparents.
This event is a perfect opportunity to meet new people in the diabetes community or catch up from previous events and for youth and children to meet new friends and see others living with diabetes like themselves. For parents and whānau this is a chance to make connections and gain support no matter where you are at in the diabetes journey. We would love to have you along and support each other.
We will have some good old-fashioned events like the egg and spoon race, three-legged race, plus other games, activities and face painting. Plus, being Diabetes Action Month, we can use our active minutes to contribute towards Diabetes NZ's brand new One Million Minutes campaign and our collective goal!
Bring along a picnic so we can have lunch together and children with diabetes can see others get tested and have insulin too. Plus, a picnic blanket and water bottle. (Please note, nothing can be stuck into the ground, so no large sun umbrellas or shelters).
Don't forget diabetes gear including hypo treatments.
Wear blue (if you have any) to symbolise diabetes or if children have previous camp t-shirts. Plus, a sunhat, jumper and running/ active shoes.
Arrive at 12 noon Saturday 15th November. Parking is in the surrounding streets of Orakei Domain. Games and activities will start soon after.
Wet weather back up date is the following Saturday 22nd November. It will NOT be postponed for expected light showers. If full rain is forecast, or heavy rain the day prior making grounds saturated, a decision will be made on the Friday, and an email will be sent out.
Cost is a koha/donation of 'pay what you can' rather than a set ticket cost for this event. As with all our other events, we do not want financial barriers to prevent attendance. Money will directly fund this event, and if any surplus, will go towards another of our local events or camps. We appreciate your support.
Registration closes Wednesday 12th November, but earlier registration is appreciated for planning.
Click on 'Whānau Ticket', choose your koha, click '+' to show 1, then click 'Add to order'. This single ticket will ask for specific numbers of attendees.
