Event description
Join Diabetes NZ Nelson Youth and Wilderness Canoe Trust for an incredible Canoe Journey!
This activity day is for youth and young adults with diabetes (aged 13+*) and their siblings (aged 13+*) from the Top of the South area (Nelson/Tasman/Marlborough).
*Those aged 12 on 13 April will be considered on a case-by-case basis, please contact Amanda if you would like your 12-yr old to participate. Participants with Diabetes must be able to independently look after their diabetes for the duration of the activity.
Enjoy an incredible Canoe Journey with the Wilderness Canoe Trust through the Nelson Marina area! Meet at Nelson Marina (Port Nelson).
Remember to bring a packed lunch, hat, water, full diabetes supplies (including glucogen), hypo treatments and a windbreaker jacket. Further information including a full gear list will be provided a week before the journey date.
This is a great opportunity to get together with other teens and young adults for an adventure and gain independence managing diabetes.
Registrations close on Tuesday 1 April - as soon as your teens place is confirmed, a Wilderness Canoe Trust waiver form will be sent and this must be returned by Thursday 3 April to secure their place. Spaces are very limited! For more information, please contact Amanda.
This activity can still go ahead in wet weather but if weather conditions are unsafe, a cancellation or postponement date will be advised on Saturday 12 April.
This activity opportunity has been donated by Wilderness Canoe Trust. We thank them and their supporters.
