Did the Korean Emissions Trading Scheme Contribute to Carbon Reduction?
Miller Theatre, ANU campus and online via Zoom
Event description
I estimate the mitigation effect of the Korean emissions trading scheme with regression discontinuity design. The reason that we choose the design is the heterogeneous treatment by industry. Our preliminary results on the electricity and industry sectors are insignificant. The meta-analysis shows publication selection bias in the quasi-experimental literature on carbon pricing. Unweighted mean of the effect is an emissions reduction of -12.3% and the true effect considering the selection bias ranges from -3.5% to -6.9%
