Event description

What are the cybersecurity challenges facing media professionals and how might we address the increasing problem of online abuse?

In the first of our seminar series, former ABC journalist Karen Percy addresses the digital dangers we face in our professional and personal lives including:

  • the increasing issue around cybersecurity and harassment of journalists
  • dealing with trauma
  • being subjected to graphic images (increasingly likely given the widespread abuse of social media),
  • how organisations can protect employees

The presentation is followed by a panel of digital tech, ICT, cybersecurity, media, and communications experts addressing the issues raised in the presentation.

KAREN PERCY is a former ABC journalist, co-Vice President of the Media section of MEAA, and a director of the Walkley Foundation. She is Chair of the Dart Centre Asia-Pacific which focuses on trauma and journalism.
