Discover how online spaces are transforming identity, community, visibility, and resistance in regional Australia. Drawing on local research and lived experiences, this conversation will examine how digital technologies are reshaping belonging, safety, and recognition for LGBTQIA+ communities in Newcastle and the Hunter. 

Dr Justin Ellis is a criminologist, author, and media commentator. His research explores the intersections of technology, justice, policing, misinformation, and social inclusion. Author of the acclaimed books Representation, Resistance and the Digiqueer and Policing Legitimacy, he is widely published, frequently engaged by the media, and regularly contributes expert commentary on digital harms, algorithmic discrimination, police accountability, and LGBTQ+ inclusion.
