Event description

Tech Week 2020: New Zealand's digital future in the APEC region

The 'APEC' region of 21 Asia-Pacific economies spans from the US to Indonesia, Chile to China, and Russia to New Zealand.  This dynamic region will be the centre of global economic gravity for the century ahead - and also includes some of the most innovative technology firms in the world.

What does international cooperation in the APEC region mean for New Zealand's digital future?  In this webinar, Toni Moyes of insurtech firm Montoux and member of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) will highlight the opportunities and points of friction in the region and the initiatives that she and other members of ABAC are developing to help ensure a thriving Asia-Pacific digital economy.  Key themes include artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, cross-border data flows, e-commerce, fintech, cybersecurity, sustainability and digital inclusion.  Toni will then host a panel involving thought-leaders from the tech sector and government which will explore the priorities for digital NZ in the Asia-Pacific. Toni is keen to hear from New Zealand businesses about their aspirations for the region and what is needed to create the most enabling environment for both large and small Kiwi businesses.  New Zealand will be the host of APEC and ABAC in 2021, which presents a great opportunity for NZ businesses to help shape the policy agenda.
