Event description

The digital trade environment is rapidly evolving. We are seeing sustained growth and evolution of the global digital economy and major advancements in digital technologies, particularly in relation to AI. Alongside this, digital exporters are navigating inconsistent rules and regulations. It's critical that the international digital economy operates in a way that supports New Zealand digital exporters and upholds free and open trade.

Through this webinar the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade will:

  • Provide a high-level overview of New Zealand’s digital trade policy approach,
  • Discuss New Zealand’s range of digital trade agreements, recent developments with the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement and at the World Trade Organization.
  • Highlight emerging issues where we need your ongoing feedback including recent US trade policy announcements, and,
  • Set out how you can help shape New Zealand’s digital trade policy.

The presentation will be followed by Q&A.

Speakers:

Laura Grey, Unit Manager, Services, Investment and Digital Trade Unit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Laura will be joined for Q&A by Abbey Miles and Tom Barker from the Services, Investment and Digital Trade Unit.
