Fireside Conversation with Dr Allan Wade and Dr Shelly Dean
Join executive leaders, sector partners and key stakeholders for an exclusive evening of connection, conversation and thought leadership.
Featuring internationally recognised Response-Based Practice expert Dr Allan Wade and researcher and practitioner Dr Shelly Dean, this intimate event will be facilitated by Anna Scott, Operations Manager at Zonta House Refuge Association.
Guests will enjoy canapés and refreshments and participate in a facilitated discussion exploring leadership, practice and system change. The evening will also include opportunities for audience Q&A, networking with peers, and meeting the speakers in a relaxed and engaging environment.

Purpose
The Fireside Conversation has been designed to create space for meaningful dialogue about the future of practice, service responses and systems change. The event aims to foster connection, share insights and strengthen collaborative responses to victim-survivors of family and domestic and sexual violence.
This is a limited-capacity invitation event.

Lineup

Dr Allan Wade
Dr Allan Wade is an internationally recognised family therapist, consulting psychologist and co-developer of Response-Based Practice. For more than four decades, his work has influenced professional practice, research and institutional responses to violence across family and domestic violence, child protection, justice, education and community services sectors internationally. In 2024, he was appointed to the Order of Canada in recognition of his significant contributions to addressing violence and advancing Response-Based Practice.

Dr Shelly Dean
Dr Shelly Dean is a family therapist, researcher, educator and clinical supervisor whose work focuses on violence-informed practice, children’s resistance to violence and dignity-centred responses to adversity. As a leader within the Centre for Response-Based Practice, she supports organisations and practitioners internationally to strengthen responses to violence and create more socially just outcomes.
