Residents of the City of Kwinana are invited to share a meal with us to celebrate the launch of Kwinana Community Gardens Inc. in developing our first project around the corner, The Medina Grub Hub.

This is an evening for information, conversation and commitment to making change in our community.

Important information: This is an 18+ event, we do not have the capacity to cater for children. We promise there will be opportunities for the entire family in the very near future. Thank you for your understanding.

Urban Farming Kwinana for Sustainable, Resilient Communities

Local community gardens with a focus on urban farming offers a vital path toward creating a sustainable support network here in Kwinana. Through small-scale, spray-free food production, this approach enhances the local food security, reduces environmental impact, and builds community resilience. Local farms can provide fresh, chemical-free produce to family's and local business cutting reliance on external food sources and lowering carbon footprints. Community educational programs conducted onsite empower residents with the knowledge to grow their own food, adopt sustainable practices, and improve health.

Urban farming creates employment opportunities supporting the local economy and fosters stronger social connections. This initiative will transform abandoned areas of unused land around the City of Kwinana into hubs of learning, wellness, and collaboration. By reducing food miles and promoting sustainable agriculture, urban farming builds resilience to climate change and future uncertainties.

Importantly, this aligns with Kwinana’s 2030 sustainability goals by fostering environmental stewardship, promoting local food production, and strengthening the community’s self-sufficiency. Urban farming is more than food production—it is a strategy for empowering the city of Kwinana and keeping us a step ahead of the rest, creating a sustainable, resilient future for all.
