Event description

"Kai for our people, our climate, our future"

Special dinner event with guest speakers, fundraising for Kaibosh's Annual Appeal.

Join Emily King, Kaibosh and others for a conversation about our food system while we share a delicious seasonal meal together.

We all need to eat, but there are challenges getting our food from the paddock to the plate in Aotearoa. Hear from change makers and leaders working in diverse areas connected with kai - from improving food systems, to working with communities to realise kai motuhake, and building food rescue partnerships between industry and community.

Speakers will discuss the issues of the day – from the challenges of food production in a changing climate, to issues of access and food poverty – and will share stories celebrating what's possible when communities connect through kai and create local solutions.

We hope you will join us for delicious meal, connection and kōrero. Bring your questions and join the conversation!

Speakers

  • Emily King, author of Re-food (2023), is a professional speaker with over a decade’s experience working in and researching food systems and helping organisations throughout Aotearoa create positive change.
  • Moko Morris (Te Aitanga a Mahaki, Te Atiawa), is Pou Māori at Kore Hiakai and a Community Advisor at Wellington City Council, working on Te Anamata ā-Kai o Tō Tātou Tāone | Our City’s Food Future which is a coordinated, integrated approach to supporting a sustainable, equitable, and resilient food system in Wellington. Kaibosh's new intiatives over the past year have increased the amount of nourishing food distributed to their 150+ community partners, from the Kaibosh food rescue kitchens and through their second harvest pilot project.
