    THE TORRENT

In this atmospheric and already prize-winning debut novel, Detective Sergeant Kate Miles is a week away from maternity leave in a small New South Wales town. She is exhausted and dealing with a violent hold-up in a fast-food restaurant. Then she is asked to review the closed case of a man drowning in recent floods. Are the two cases unrelated or is there a link? What are the secrets that connect them and how can she find the truth while juggling imminent childbirth and the needs of her family who have their own secrets?
