Practical experience for Level 3
To gain practical experience to graduate, students are required to give a minimum of 100, hour-long treatments.
These are achieved in several ways:
- ● Student Reflexology Clinic - In a real working environment, students will gain practical hands-on experience by treating a minimum of 40 members of the public in a supervised environment, one hour per client. These will be conducted in a Student Clinic, where they are informally assessed, and feedback is given.
- ● Case studies - students are to complete 40 treatments for 10 clients (four treatments per client). These are not supervised however they are documented case studies submitted for assessment.
- ● Additional treatments - To achieve a total of 100 treatments, students may also add treatments given in the classroom to their total as well as other non-supervised documented treatments to arrive at a total of 100.
This practical component ensures that students have time to practice applying their skills and knowledge learned from classes to the practical role of working as a reflexologist.
Assessments
Competency will be assessed through the following:
- ● Graded practical (hands-on) examination in the presence of an iTEC examiner.
- ● Theoretical examination (online or paper based) through iTEC head office.
- ● Portfolio of evidence: Assignments on complementary therapies and business practice
- ● Portfolio of evidence: 40 case studies - (10 clients x 4 treatments each) plus additional treatments) - all documented.
- ● ASRR will offer guided study activities throughout the subjects such as written questions, multiple choice questions, quizzes, mock exams and scenarios for role plays.
