Event description

In this concert Disa will perform the Schumann Fantasies, Grieg Sonata and Valentini Sonata with two of Armidale’s accomplished pianists Dr Robert Manley and Matthew Ardern. Don't miss this opportunity as in September Disa will begin a two year Master’s degree at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.

Disa grew up in Armidale and studied under Sofia Debus at Heart Strings Academy. She was principal cellist of the Armidale Youth Orchestra and of the NSW Regional Youth Orchestra. Disa has since returned to feature in the Cellissimo! festival concert alongside her former teachers.

She led the cello section in the Melbourne Youth Orchestra as well as in the nationally televised World Vision Carols by Candlelight. For three years Disa has played with the Australian Youth Orchestra and toured with Seasons in 2023. Her own quartet performed in the Adelaide String Festival.

Disa completed a Bachelor of Music with Honours (first class) at Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. At MCM Disa was in the String Ensemble, Mimir festival, opera orchestra and gave solo recitals. She toured with the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra to Singapore and Malaysia.

Melbourne Symphony Orchestra cellist Rohan de Korte was Disa’s teacher at the MCM for five years. As of 2025 she is studying under MSO’s Assistant Principal cellist Elina Faskhi.
