Event description

Disability service providers have an important role in the lives of
people with disability experiencing domestic and family violence.

The prevalence rates of this type of violence tell us that it requires
closer attention by every disability service provider.

National Disability Services and WorkUP Qld invite the disability
workforce and organisations to participate in FREE training, on disability and
domestic violence.

The intended audience for this training is personnel undertaking Support Coordination; supervisory roles; senior or independent allied health professionals and personnel in senior management and leadership positions.

It will provide an introduction to domestic and family violence as experienced by people with a disability and the 'how to' of effective organisational responses including how to enable staff to recognise, respond and refer appropriately.  This may include building on existing organisational strengths in keeping people with disability safe through staff induction, training and support.

Participation is this training provides a unique opportunity to contribute to shaping a range of training products through your engagement and feedback.  The final products will be made freely available for the broader disability workforce and organisations to access into the future.

No prior knowledge is required to engage in this training.

The training will be delivered in one short, live Zoom webinar session, making it easy to participate.

A Certificate of Attendance will be provided.

The disability workforce including government and non-government workers, sole providers and those employed by non-government organisations providing a direct service to people with a disability are the target group for this project.
