The knowledge, skills & tools you gain during the session will provide you with the skills and confidence to look at removing barriers for disabled people which in turn leads to a more accessible and inclusive environment in the Edinburgh Fringe and beyond.

Topics we will cover include;

  • Language
  • Cultural representation – How disability is viewed and it’s impact
  • Models of disability and how they are used
  • Legislation & Activism – Where we’ve been and how we got here.
  • Individualism & Statistics
  • Removing Barriers

Access within the event:

The workshop will be 1 hour 30 mins, during which there will be planned breaks.

The workshop is taking place in The Great Hall at City of Edinburgh's Methodist Church in Nicolson Sqaure. There is a pay and display car park next to the church and a nearby bus stop on South Bridge for bus numbers 7, 31, 37, 47, 47B.

 There is level access via the wheelchair accessible fire exit to the right of the building. This way in takes you straight into the Great Hall via a low 10cm gradient ramp and requires no use of the lift. People can also enter via a ramp at the front door and use the lift to access the Great Hall. The Great Hall itself is all level access.

Please get in touch with us if you require BSL Interpretation or Live Captioning and we'll do our best to support your access requirements. Please contact us by 23rd July at the latest.
