Disability Sector: Reportable Conduct Investigation Workshop
Event description
What is the Reportable Conduct Scheme?
The Reportable Conduct Scheme (the Scheme) was introduced in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Abuse (the Royal Commission).
The Scheme compels heads of organisations that exercise care, supervision or authority over children to notify allegations of, or convictions for, child abuse by their employees to the Ombudsman and then investigate these allegations. The Ombudsman will monitor, oversee and review these investigations. The purpose of the Scheme is to make Western Australian children safer.
The Scheme implements key recommendations of the Royal Commission and provides that child abuse in organisations will always be:
- notified to an impartial and independent body;
- investigated fully; and
- dealt with to ensure children are protected from abuse within institutions.
What will the workshop cover?
The workshop will address:
- How can you manage risks to children in your organisation’s care while the investigation is ongoing?
- How will the Ombudsman oversee your organisation’s investigation?
- How should your organisation conduct an investigation?
- What happens at the end of a reportable conduct investigation?
Who should attend?
This workshop is for people already familiar with the Reportable Conduct Scheme and who are responsible for conducting investigations against organisation employees in the disability sector.
THIS WORKSHOP IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THOSE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE SCHEME.
To ensure this session is widely accessible, please coordinate registrations within your organisation and limit registrations to two (2) people per worksite / office.
