Renters' Rights Rundown - Disability and tenancy rights

Event description

A forum to explore the intersection between renters' rights and existing tenancy laws, and the rights, needs and aspirations of people with disability.

This interactive session is designed for community sector workers who interact with renters with disabilities.

Attendees will be briefed about the:

  • Current protections and provisions under Victoria's Residential Tenancies Act, but also
  • Gaps in existing protections for people with disabilities under the current legislation.

Audience questions can be submitted during the session (or upon registration) and will be answered live by our expert presenters.

At the end of the session, workers will feel empowered to provide renters with better support and advice to help them assert their rights and/or make appropriate referrals to specialist services who can provide tenancy support.

This event is part of VCOSS’ Rental Fairness project, supported through the Victorian Property Fund with thanks to the Victorian Department of Government Services.
