Disagree better: Speaking up with courage and care
Description
Thank you for visiting! The scheduled student workshops for this term have been postponed.
If you are a leader from Monash Student Clubs & Societies interested in exploring custom workshops or future opportunities, please reach out to us at mea@monash.edu.
We look forward to sharing our upcoming schedule for next year soon!
University is where we encounter some of the most important—and challenging—conversations of our lives. Yet many of us find ourselves caught between two unsatisfying choices: staying silent to avoid conflict, or speaking up in ways that leave others defensive and further apart.
Delivered by The Brave Conversations Project, this interactive workshop equips you with the skills to do something different. You'll
learn how to speak up against ideas you believe are wrong,
test assumptions with courage and care,
and engage across disagreement without sacrificing your values or your relationships.
Through practical activities and guided dialogue, you'll uncover the thinking habits that shape how we see one another, then practise listening to understand, asking questions that genuinely test ideas, and responding in ways that turn disagreement into an opportunity for better thinking, stronger relationships, and meaningful change.
