Disclosure of Child Sexual Abuse Through the Life Course - First Findings from the Literature.

Recent enquiries such as The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Australia have increased public attention and awareness of the occurrence of child sexual abuse (CSA) and how this is responded to globally. Despite this, how disclosure of CSA is considered and responded to remains an aspect of a victim/survivor’s life which presents many challenges and potential harmful consequences. There is growing recognition that the way in which disclosure is conceptualised as a one-time event strongly contributes to this, yet a comprehensive understanding of what a life course perspective of disclosure encapsulates remains underdeveloped. This webinar presents the first findings of our research project in disclosure and consolidates knowledge of a life course understanding of disclosure, providing a strong body of evidence of the critical impact a disclosure has on a victim/survivor across the life course.

The event will be delivered as a free webinar open to the public with six complementary talks and with questions moderated. The webinar will be recorded for later access.
