Event description
Discover, Taste, Grow: Native Foods with Neville Bonney
Step into the world of native foods with renowned author, ethnobotanist, and plant expert Neville Bonney. In this hands-on workshop, Neville will introduce us to a variety of local native food plants and share insights into their cultural significance, biodiversity value, and everyday uses. To bring the learning to life, Nevilles presentation will be complemented by your own tasting plate - giving you the chance to experience these flavours firsthand.
About the presenters:
Neville has dedicated his life to championing Australian native plants, authoring over 25 books on their importance, cultivation, and uses. His most recent publication, From One Small Seed, offers a detailed guide to more than 700 native plants, their seeds, and propagation methods. Neville is passionate about seeing native plants integrated into food systems and is a highly sought-after community speaker.
Joining Neville will be Karen Shaw, who will prepare the tasting menu. Karen has worked alongside Neville for many years and is equally committed to educating people about how to grow and prepare native foods. Karen is the founder of Australian Native Foods, a community based native food co-op.
On the day, participants will also have the opportunity to purchase Neville’s books, along with a selection of native food products and plants.
Please inform us of any dietary requirements when you register.
