This talk will explore the curatorial rationale behind the international blockbuster exhibition Discovering Ancient Egypt from the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in Leiden, The Netherlands, currently on show at the National Museum of Australia. The exhibition presents the lived experiences of ancient Egyptians spanning 3,000 years alongside scientific and archaeological histories over centuries, unpacking the question, ‘Why are we so fascinated by ancient Egypt?’
About the speaker: Craig Middleton is a senior curator at the National Museum of Australia and the lead coordinating curator of Discovering Ancient Egypt.
