Discovering Mokuhanga Woodblock printing with Susan Haddock

Mokuhanga is a traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking technique. Taught by Japanese master artist Katsu Yuasa, Susan will display and teach this most interesting and safe (ie non-toxic) relief printmaking technique

A two-day introduction to the carving and printing techniques of water soluble pigments using the Kento registration system for multi blocks.
Materials: There will be a materials fee of $30.00 payable directly to Susan on day one.
The materials pack will include:
- 2 x Japanese Shina blocks, suitable for A4 paper
- Japanese Kozo/kitakata mix printing paper 10 X A4 sheets
- Additional A4 acid free cartridge paper for proofing
- Bamboo baren
- Hake brush
Carving tools, watercolours and pigments, carbon paper, tracing paper and drafting film will also be supplied for the workshop.
There will be a short lunch break - please bring something with you. Tea and coffee will be provided.
This course requires a minimum of 4 participants to proceed and has a maximum class size of 6 to allow for lots of one-to-one tuition.
