Dissect & Decode: The Human Biology Lab
Description
Dissect & Decode: Human Biology Lab
Want to dissect a real heart? Identify different tissues under a microscope? Extract DNA from cells and see the building blocks of life up close?
Led by Dr Timothy Tan from Square Academy, this hands-on program gives students in Years 3–6 the opportunity to explore the human body through real biological investigations, practical experiments and engaging laboratory activities.
Morning Session: Heart Dissection & Microscopy
In the morning, students will get up close with the human body, including dissecting a heart and investigating different tissues under a microscope. They’ll develop practical laboratory skills while discovering how the body is structured and how its different parts work together.
Afternoon Session: DNA Extraction & Microscopy
In the afternoon, students will dive into the building blocks of life. They’ll extract DNA from cells and explore the science behind what makes us who we are. Through hands-on experiments and practical activities, students will uncover how DNA stores information and plays a role in every living thing.
Morning Session: Heart Dissection & Microscopy (9:00am – 12:00pm) $80
Afternoon Session: DNA Extraction & Microscopy (1:00pm – 4:00pm) $80
Full Day Option: Both workshops (9:00am – 4:00pm) $150
Full-day participants will be supervised during the lunch break, and enjoy a seamless day of STEM. Please note, that lunch is not provided.
Bring your curiosity, your science brain and a willingness to get stuck in. It’s time to dissect, investigate and decode the incredible science inside us!
