Diversified Plain Weave Workshop 28-29 September 2024
A versatile fabric weave– for jackets, upholstery, bags, cushions, placemats
Requirements:
- an 8 shaft loom, threaded and ready to weave (threading instructions will be emailed on registration)
- Laptop with copy of PCW Fiberworks downloaded (and preferably validated) or other weaving software. And a separate mouse– using the mouse pad on the computer is tiring and slow!
Prerequisites: 4 shaft weaving experience
During the workshop we will
- produce a sampler of variations of this weave
- discuss yarns and uses and how to design it for yourself
- make a template to quickly assess different designs,
- cover the theory of diversified plain weave as a block weave,
- discuss how to tie on and weave single float huck,
- and cover the theory of new diversified plain weave
The Saturday morning session will be held in the Emporium (not the hall), and we'll use your laptops. Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday sessions will be held in the hall. You'll need your threaded loom for these.
Tea and coffee facilities will be available. Please bring your lunch.
