• What is DiversAbility Fun Day 2026?

  DiversAbility Fun Day 2026 is a free, family-friendly and inclusive community celebration held to recognise International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD). The event brings people of all ages and abilities together to connect, participate, have fun and celebrate inclusion and diversity.

• Who is hosting the event?

  DiversAbility Fun Day 2026 is proudly hosted by the DivesAbility Collective — a network of dedicated organisations from the social service and disability sectors committed to fostering a more inclusive community.  Dementia Alliance Darwin (DAD) is a member of the DiversAbility Collective and is the lead organisation.

• Who is Dementia Alliance Darwin?

  Dementia Alliance Darwin (DAD) is a volunteer-led community group dedicated to building a dementia friendly and inclusive community in the Darwin region. They bring together people with lived experience of dementia—including individuals diagnosed with dementia, their carers, families, and friends— as well as community members and professionals from a wide range of sectors. Together, they work to ensure that people living with dementia are supported, included and empowered through advocacy, awareness and education, and community engagement.

• When is the event?

  The event will be held on 3 December 2026, in recognition of International Day of People with Disability.  It will be held at the Territory Netball Stadium between 11am and 2pm.

• Who can attend?

  Everyone is welcome! The event is open to people of all ages and abilities, including people with disability, families, carers, support workers, friends, community members and the general public.

• Is there an entry fee?

  No. Entry is completely free!  This community celebration is made possible through the generosity of our sponsors, supporters and the many volunteers who generously contribute their time, skills and resources to help make DiversAbility Fun Day possible.

• Is parking available?

  Yes. Parking is available at the event venue. Accessible parking spaces will also be available for people who require them. Please follow event signage and directions from event crew on the day.

• Are food and drinks provided?

  Yes! Food and drinks are free for attendees to enjoy throughout the event.

• Do I need to register?

  Registration is not required, but it is helpful and encouraged. Registering in advance helps the organisers plan activities, catering, accessibility requirements and resources to ensure everyone has a safe, enjoyable and welcoming experience.

  You are also welcome to attend on the day even if you have not registered.

• What activities will be available?

  DiversAbility Fun Day will offer a fun and varied program, including:

  • Sports and inclusive physical activities

  • Arts and crafts

  • Singing and dancing

  • Interactive games and activities

  • Live entertainment

  • Award presentations

  • Opportunities to connect, socialise and celebrate together

• Is the event accessible?

  Yes. Accessibility and inclusion are at the heart of DiversAbility Fun Day. The event is designed to provide opportunities for people with different abilities, ages and support needs to participate, connect and enjoy the day.

• Can I bring my family or support person?

  Absolutely! Families, carers, support workers and friends are encouraged to attend and participate. The more, the merrier!

• Are children welcome?

  Yes. DiversAbility Fun Day is a family-friendly event, and children are very welcome to join in the activities and entertainment.

• Do I have to participate in the activities?

  Not at all. You can participate as much or as little as you like. You are welcome to enjoy the entertainment, try different activities, socialise with others or simply soak up the atmosphere.

• How can organisations and service providers get involved?

  Organisations and service providers are encouraged to be part of DiversAbility Fun Day. There are several ways to get involved, including:

  • Sponsorships – support the event and help us deliver an inclusive celebration for the community.

  • Interactive activities – provide an engaging, accessible activity for attendees to enjoy and participate in.

  • Volunteering – help create a welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable experience for everyone.

• Is DiversAbility Fun Day an expo?

  No. DiversAbility Fun Day is primarily a community celebration and interactive event, rather than an expo.  It is to celebrate the achievements, contributions and diverse abilities of people with disability while encouraging greater understanding, respect, and inclusion across our communities.  The focus is on participation, entertainment, connection, inclusion and having fun together.

• Will photography and videography take place at the event?

  Yes. Photography and videography may take place throughout DiversAbility Fun Day 2026. By attending the event, you acknowledge that you or members of your group may appear in photographs, videos or other recordings taken during the event.

  Images and recordings may be used by the event organisers, sponsors and supporters for event promotion, community engagement, social media, websites, publications and other promotional or communications purposes.
