REGISTRATIONS CLOSE 1ST APRIL 2025 10:00AM

This session is part of an ongoing monthly series to serve the Loddon region, hosted by the Family Violence Disability Practice Leader at Centre for Non Violence.

This 1.5 hour Professional Development will be looking at the difference between mental health and disability, when does mental health become a disability and how do we distinguish between the two? We will look at the importance and context of the language that we use as well as consequences.

This session will be facilitated by Mikaela Grant, Director & Psychotherapist at Care For Your Mind.

Care For Your Mind is a private psychology and counselling clinic located in Bendigo, Victoria Offering specialised therapeutic support for a range of mental health challenges, including:

  • Abuse (sexual, emotional, psychological, physical & neglect)
  • Trauma
  • Relationship breakdowns
  • Family dysfunction
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Sexuality, and gender identity affirmation
  • Problematic Sexualised Behaviours
  • Sensory processing difficulties

Care For Your Mind is informed by the belief that people deeply engage and begin to see significant change when they are seen, heard, validated, and understood.

We work by incorporating a “whole-brain” approach to our work which focuses on relational, sensory, and emotional safety.

Our treatment focus is person-centred and evidence based with the understanding that the driver of lasting change is determined by the strength of the therapeutic relationship.

What will you learn from this session

  • How is mental health defined
  • How is Psychosocial disability defined
  • The difference between definitions
  • How supports and/or responses might differ
  • How can we take this into consideration in our engagement with clients

There will be an opportunity for you to submit questions to be included in the Q&A session at the conclusion of the presentation. These questions will be kept anonymous and a written response to questions will be provided to attendees once the recording is sent out.

Please note, the session will be recorded and disseminated across the Loddon region. Attendees video's will not be visible in the recording and the Q&A session will not be recorded.
