Divert & Earn Regional Workshop

Building Your Climate Action School Using LEAN & Circular Systems Thinking

You're already doing this work.

Every day, your team collects it, moves it, bags it, and sends it away. The cleaners, the facilities staff, the business manager tracking every dollar. The leadership team trying to do right by students, community, and budget — all at once.

Most of what leaves your school doesn't have to. And the people best placed to change that are already on your payroll.

This workshop is for them.  You're not alone in this.

Ten locations. Across Queensland. The Circular Revolution starts in 2027 — and the schools joining it are led by people exactly like you. Business managers who want the numbers to make sense. Principals who want sustainability to stick. Cleaners and facilities staff who know the building better than anyone and have never been asked to help design the solution.

That changes here.

What you'll walk away knowing how to do.

Using the same systems thinking applied in industry, you'll learn how to turn what your school currently throws away into savings, income, and skills.

  • The system — how resource recovery works in a school, the circular economy principles behind it, and systems thinking applied to your bins, your rounds, and your daily routines.

  • Your school's plan — activating your School Environmental Management Plan (SEMP), mapping your processes for campus-wide improvement, and measuring outcomes you can report on. Bring your laptop, your bills and aerial shot of your school to get the most out of this workshop.

  • Your team — building alignment from leadership through to facilities staff, with the confidence to follow through.

The people in the room.

This isn't a conference for sustainability enthusiasts. It's a working session for the people who make a school run.

Business Managers · Principals and Leadership Teams · Head Cleaners and Facilities Staff · Sustainability Coordinators · P&C Committees Student ambassadors

Schools that get this right do it because every role is represented. Bring your team.

What's already possible.

Woodridge State School reduced waste from 1m³ per student to 0.36m³ — across 1,145 students. They returned $6K to their P&C through Containers for Change. Every school we've worked with has secured $50K in grants on the strength of their data.

These aren't outliers. They're what happens when the right system meets the right people.

What you take home.

Every participant receives the Climate Action Schools Workbook — implementation templates, resource recovery planning tools, SEMP activation resources, school case studies, measurement tools and next-step guides.

You won't leave with good intentions. You'll leave with a plan.

The circular revolution is already underway.

Queensland schools are proving that sustainability doesn't have to rest on one passionate teacher, one grant cycle or one good year. When the system is right, it runs itself — and the whole community feels it.

This is your invitation to be part of what comes next.
