Division To Dialogue: From Pulpit to Policy–Religion’s Reach in Governance
Event description
Join us for a timely town hall exploring the evolving relationship between faith and government. Seeing how deeply held convictions enter the policy sphere—and what happens when belief becomes mandate. Including what it means to uphold a pluralistic democracy where many beliefs—and non-beliefs—must coexist.
In a nation built on both religious freedom and secular law, the lines between belief and policy are becoming increasingly blurred. From school board decisions to Supreme Court rulings, religion continues to influence the laws that govern us all.
Whether you hold deep faith, no faith, or something in between, your voice matters in this conversation. Let’s gather to ask the hard questions, share diverse perspectives, and uncover what it truly means to live freely together.
This is a town hall, not a debate. It’s an invitation to listen, share, and connect across perspectives. We will hold space for the complexity of our experiences while fostering a sense of belonging, understanding, and mutual respect.
Come early to grab a drink at Relevant and possibly food from Goonburger next door (they now have a vegan option). Many thanks to Relevant for hosting this month's town hall.
Anticipate:
A deeper understanding of the constitutional principles of church and state
Space to reflect on your own beliefs and their place in public life
Tools for engaging in respectful, informed dialogue across differing views
A sense of connection with others navigating these complex issues
Together, we'll move beyond polarized narratives, toward deeper understanding and shared humanity.
