Event description

In partnership with Waitemata Waste Away and Waitemata Local Board.

In this workshop, you will make and leave with an upcycled bokashi bin for your food scraps and with the knowledge you need to make DIY Zing for your bin.

The ReCreators will also teach you how to use a drill and a jigsaw, for other DIY home projects.

The purpose of this workshop is to enable you to reduce food scraps waste  by creating a resource to make nutritious soil.  We will connect you to either www.sharewaste.org.nz or a provider who will take your food scraps away for positive soil creation.  This is a good opportunity to meet locals and connect with your community

This event is created with the help of Live Lightly - Auckland Council and in partnership with Waitemata Waste Away and The Waitemata Local Board.

All participants must wear covered shoes and non-flowing clothing (tight-ish!). Some work may be outdoors, please wear a sun hat and sunscreen if outdoors.

Please note that you need to arrive at this workshop for the beginning of class and the health and safety briefing to be able to take part in the rest of the class.

The workshop will provide the following

  • Health and Safety Briefing
  • Instructions to build the plant holder
  • Step by step use of all tools
  • Where to extend yourself for tools 102
  • Personal attention where required
