Geographe Soil Testing Program - DIY Soil Sampling Training
Event description
Join fellow farmers to learn how to collect accurate soil samples, as part of the 2025/26 Geographe Soil Testing Program.
Hands-on training will be provided by DPIRD Officers.
You will learn how to:
Take accurate and representative soil samples of your paddocks.
Set up the sampling equipment - drill and auger.
GPS your sampling locations.
Prepare sample bags for the lab.
This training is highly recommended for participants of the Geographe Soil Testing Program, but everyone is welcome!
To prepare for the training:

Respect biosecurity on our host farm with clean boots and cars.
Dress appropriate (hat, boots, sunscreen) and bring water bottle.
BYO device (either a charged smart phone or iPad) - Install Filemaker Go app before you come - or we can help on the day!
If possible, bring a charged battery drill.
Morning tea provided, so bring along your keep cup!
This activity is a part of Healthy Estuaries WA and Revitalising Geographe Waterways, State Government programs; and Soils - New Horizons, a bilateral partnership agreement between the Australian Government and the State Government of WA (DPIRD).
