Details of what to bring to the workshop:
- Something to share for afternoon tea
For the Kombucha Session:
- A glass sterile jar- approx. 500ml.
- Notepad and pen
For the Mushrooms Session:
- Gloves (optional)
- Clean plastic tub 5-10L (it can be smaller) with 5-10mm holes as per the procedure below.
Bellarine Fungi guide to preparing your own mushroom grow-tub.
First get a plastic tub that's between 5L and 10L capacity with a lid. Ice cream containers, old Tupperware or anything similar that you're willing to put holes in is acceptable. Then get a drill and a drill bit between 5ml and 10ml. A Brad bit is preferable, but a regular drill bit is also acceptable. And you'll need a piece of wood as well.
Mark your tub out with a marker to prepare the holes you're going to drill, place these every 10cm along the sides of your tub, do not put any in the lid and put two holes on the bottom equally spaced. Then, using the wood as a support behind the tub so the plastic flexes as little as possible carefully drill through the tub applying pressure on the drill, if you are using a Brad bit you can run your drill forwards, or if you're using a regular bit run it in reverse otherwise your tub will likely crack.
After you'll have a tub ready for mushroom growing! Be sure to give it a good wash before bringing it to our workshop!
