DJ Workshop Afternoon Series

DJ Workshop Programme - Please note participants must be able to attend all sessions!

Session 1. How to Play Your Tunes & Own It! – Beginners

Thu 1 Oct, 6–7:30pm

A fun, welcoming introduction to DJing for all genres and experience levels. Learn the basics of loading music onto USBs, using CDJs/turntables and the mixer, with a focus on confidence, creativity and community. 

Session 2. How to Beatmatch

Thu 8 Oct, 6–7:30pm

Learn the fundamentals of beatmatching, including cueing tracks, identifying the beat and keeping two songs in time. Using house/techno as a starting point, participants will build the skills and confidence to blend tracks across genres.

Session 3. How to Use the Mixer to Your Advantage

Thu 15 Oct, 6–7:30pm

Explore creative mixing techniques and learn how to use EQ, crossfader, gain, filters and effects such as reverb and delay to shape your sound and create exciting transitions.

Session 4. Piecing Together a Radio Show

Thu 22 Oct, 6–8pm

Working in teams, participants will create a 2–3 song mix to contribute to a collaborative radio show. Tom will help shape and record the final show, ready for submission to a local radio station.

Soundclash & Evening of Turntablism

Fri 30 Oct, 4–7pm

A celebratory evening bringing participants, friends and family together for a soundclash and showcase of turntablism.
