Doco Duo: Behind The Dance
Description
DOCO DUO: BEHIND THE DANCE
In-Cinema and Online Digital Screening
Two documentaries take us beyond the performance and into the people, histories and creative processes that shape dance.
Doco Duo: Behind the Dance pairs two compelling stories exploring the experiences, influences and memories that ultimately find their way onto the stage and screen.
Anchor Points
An intimate portrait of choreographer Victor Quijada, tracing his journey from street dancer to internationally recognised contemporary dance maker. Combining archival footage, visual effects and documentary storytelling, Anchor Points explores the experiences and influences that shaped Quijada’s distinctive RUBBERBAND Method and creative voice.
Dancing Through Time
A journey through dance, memory and performance, exploring the relationship between a dancer’s past and present and the experiences that continue to resonate across a life in dance.
Special Guest: Meryl Tankard Following the screening, join us for a special conversation with acclaimed Australian choreographer Meryl Tankard, director of the stage work featured in Dancing Through Time. Meryl will share insights into the work, its history and creative journey, followed by an audience Q&A.
Together, these two films — and the conversation that follows — offer an intimate look behind the work and at the artists, histories and experiences that shape what eventually reaches the stage.
