SUPPORTED BY

Volts

Since bursting on to the music scene, Volts have steadily built a loyal fan-base and a great reputation for their live shows and hook laden songs. The band originated a few years back as a duo between founding members Marc Royal and Lorna Coll. Royal’s rock origins provided driving guitar riffs, paired with Coll’s unique vocals which soar from powerhouse rock through to emotive pop. Volts soon morphed into a full band recruiting multi instrumentalists and producers Andy and Victoria Knopp and the band began work on their debut record. The band are now set to drop their debut EP and the frenetic rock n’ roll track Wolves on October 1st 2021.

Big Sima

The name Big Sima is synonymous with Christchurch hiphop - starting out as a bboy in the early 2000’s, he has since made a name for himself as an MC who cut his teeth on the battlegrounds around mainly Christchurch, but often beyond. After ten years’ worth of grind and dedication to his craft, in 2018 Big Sima was granted an opportunity to work with longtime friend and acclaimed producer Tiki Taane. Together they birthed their maiden project “Underground King”, which has to date amassed over one million total streams across all platforms, and two entries in the hot Aotearoa/NZ single chart. Last year Big Sima also achieved a milestone success with two sold out headline shows and recently took the stage beside Tiki and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra in front of a sold out Christchurch Town Hall audience. Standing by his values in speaking out against common issues that continue to plague society, Big Sima addresses both racism, drug addiction and generational trauma through his current work on his debut album “Stereotypes of A Polynesian Misunderstood” which is set for release at the end of 2021.

The Hootz

Hailing from Christchurch, New Zealand, The Hootz are a four-piece band that have stamped their name into the heart of the New Zealand music industry.

Composers Mitch-Bowley-Black, Lead Guitarist, and Jahquinn Black, Lead Singer, have formed a soundscape that has taken the benchmark of kiwi roots-reggae and sent it into a jealous epiphany by blasting it with elements of coarse-rock and husk vocalism, riding a wave of psychedelic embellishment. When combined with the low-end bop of bassist, Jayden Bowley, and drummer, Kasey Andrews, The Hootz have defined their own niche sound that slam dunks the norm of reggae.

Many shining reviews and praised local performances around New Zealand in 2020 catapulted The Hootz into the forefront of the local band industry due to a consistently unique and ecstatic performance. Cool and smooth stage antics that explode into an abundance of energy at a timely dynamic made their performance an easy crowd favourite of 2020 in the New Zealand gig scene.
