Learn how you can play an active role in preventing and responding to domestic and family violence in this bystander and allies training delivered in partnership with Inner West Council and Women's and Girls' Emergency Centre.

This workshop will help you gain an understanding of gender-based violence, how to have supportive and safe conversation, and where to get help and assist people impacted by domestic and family violence. 

Moo Baulch and Jean Parker from WAGEC's Primary Prevention team will facilitate the workshop.

This workshop is for community members* living, studying, working or volunteering in the Inner West. 

Gender-based violence and prevention:

  • The drivers of gender-based violence
  • The impacts of gender-based violence
  • Healthy relationships and red flags/signs of abuse

Making our communities safer:

  • How to be an active bystander or ally
  • Responding compassionately and safely with disclosures of violence or abuse
  • Practice scenarios and gain confidence having difficult conversations
  • Support in the Inner West and how to practice self-care

To register, please submit your expression of interest by 9am, Monday 12th May 2025. You will be contacted the week commencing 12 May to confirm your participation. 

Please arrive at 9:30am, as the workshop will begin at 10am and finish by 4pm with breaks in between. 

*Aged 18+ years. Spots are limited, registration essential.
