Domestic family violence - Legal aid training
Event description
Join NADA on Tuesday, 18 November at 3:00pm for an informative and practical webinar with Hollie Saliba, Senior Solicitor from Legal Aid NSW’s Domestic Violence Unit. Hollie brings extensive experience working in the Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) legal space and will unpack how the law responds to these complex situations.
Please see the Legal Aid Law for Community Workers page for further resources on various legal topics and changes to the law.
Learning outcomes
This session will briefly discuss key legal concepts and processes, including domestic violence, ADVO conditions, interim orders, and coercive control legislation. Hollie will also share practical guidance on how to approach case notes when DFV-related matters are involved, helping workers strengthen documentation and communication practices. There’ll also be time for Q&A, so bring your questions, offering participants a chance to clarify how these legal considerations play out in everyday practice.
Who should attend?
This webinar is especially relevant for alcohol and other drug workers who may be supporting clients impacted by DFV, whether as victims or as male perpetrators involved in the legal system. It’s an excellent opportunity to build confidence in navigating DFV issues and to better understand how the legal framework intersects with AOD practice.
