Domini Forster - 'The Lonely' Album Tour - Byron Bay
Event description
Naarm-based songwriter Domini Forster returns home to the Byron Shire to present an intimate night of song and storytelling at a gorgeous home nestled in the hills of Ewingsdale.*
Forster leads you through the dusk-lit corridors of her intricate song-stories, each scene intimate and lovelorn as tea-stained lace. Her distinctive voice shifts effortlessly from commanding call to whisper-close falsetto, earning her comparisons to the likes of Laura Marling and Joni Mitchell.
Currently touring nationally, Forster is launching her highly anticipated second album The Lonely (out 20 June) with a series of intimate solo shows.
The songwriter recently came to national attention for her acclaimed collaboration with ARIA Award-winning artist Lior. Forster’s new album has already turned heads, with the second single Hard Love earning a place on the Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition shortlist and playlisting by Australian taste-maker and music video institution RAGE. ABC’s David Astle described it as 'a mesmerising, ethereal piece of music'.
An anthology of songs about connection and disconnection, The Lonely draws on Forster’s experiences working at the intersection between music and mental health, and her own struggles with anxiety, illuminating the many shades and patterns of loneliness sewn into the fabric of our world.
‘Forster has a full, achingly sweet folk voice that makes it no stretch of the imagination to call her Australia’s Laura Marling’ – Jessie Cunniffe, The Sydney Morning Herald
‘[Forster’s recent single] Unravelling is a gorgeous piece of work which runs the gamut between the introspective and the cinematic… It’s as immersive as it is powerful, and sets Forster apart as a voice you need to be paying attention to’ – The Music
