This opportunity was truly life changing. It was a better balance of content information and curriculum than other professional learning programs. I can't wait to share it with my students next year.

Donate to support FIT
Forestry Institute for Teachers (FIT) provides teachers with the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience California’s forests firsthand. Through an immersive, week-long training, educators explore forestry, environmental science, and California’s natural resources alongside credentialed instructors and local experts.
Your donation makes these experiences possible. When you donate to FIT, you’re investing in teachers to bring what they learn back to their classrooms—where it can inspire thousands of students to become the next generation of forest stewards.
FIT supports California educators including TK-12+ credentialed educators, preservice teachers, administrators, and program leads and your support helps keep this unique experience accessible to provide:
50 hours of instruction
3 Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
Certification as a Project Learning Tree (PLT) and Project Water Education Today (WET) trained educator - including access to curriculum guides and resources.
Field trips to view active forest management
Teaching resources for use in the classroom
Meals and lodging for participating educators
Opportunities to connect and grow with the FIT community, natural resource experts, and peers from throughout California

The program provided an invaluable opportunity to connect forest ecology with practical teaching strategies. The experience equipped me with activities that made science more engaging for my students.
