Please join us for our Douglas Ullman Conference, taking place on Thursday, September 26! This conference series, dedicated to honoring Douglas G. Ullman, one of CRC's Founders and first Board President, will bring top experts in behavioral health to Bowling Green, OH. We are thrilled to announce Barbara Rubel as our presenter this year as she covers essential topics for any professional working with individuals requiring mental health support (first responders, mental health teams, healthcare leaders, and victim service providers).

Presentation Title: Cultivating Well-being and Resilience through a Vicarious Trauma-Informed Approach

Learning Objectives:

  1. Examine evidence-based self-care strategies to mitigate the impact of burnout, secondary traumatic stress, compassion fatigue, moral injury, and vicarious trauma.
  2. Emphasize workplace flexibility, personal boundaries, and work-life synergy within the context of vicarious trauma-informed approaches.
  3. Identify job satisfaction indicators that highlight the positive impact of working in a vicarious trauma-informed organization.

  5. Relate essential personal strengths necessary for maintaining self-compassion when navigating vicarious trauma.

Outcome:
This program is designed to enhance participants' capacity to recognize and address the effects of their work in their field. Mental health professionals and those who support the community will emerge from the program with a profound sense of feeling understood, equipped with the tools necessary to identify and mitigate burnout, compassion fatigue, moral injury, and vicarious trauma. They will gain insights into fostering a healthy workplace environment that prioritizes well-being, facilitating mutual support, and enhancing overall wellness, resilience, and staff retention. Participants will get a comprehensive 20-page participant manual, enriched with tip sheets and self-assessments. Additionally, they will keep the toys utilized as learning aids throughout the program, fostering interactive and engaging learning experiences.

About Barbara:
Barbara Rubel, BS, MA, BCETS, DAAETS is a leading authority and award-winning author on navigating burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma. As a nationally recognized keynote speaker, she inspires diverse professionals to cultivate resilience through the lens of vicarious trauma-informed care. With a career spanning over three decades, Barbara has presented to over 1,000 organizations. Barbara's credentials include Board-Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress and Diplomate status with the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. Barbara holds a BS in psychology and a MA degree in community health, with a concentration in thanatology.
