Chant and Movement, Dances of Universal Peace gathering, Online with Kellie

I invite you on a journey with me to experience the Dances of Universal Peace.

If you are inspired to offer something at the gathering it may be a poem, a song, a story please let me know in advance via email enlakesch@yahoo.com.au and together we can create a beautiful celebration.

The Dances of Universal Peace are a powerful embodied cross-cultural way to connect heart to heart, with yourself and community, and touch spiritual essence with chants/songs based on sacred phrases, prayers and poetry celebrating the diversity and the underlying unity of cultures, spiritual traditions & religions from around the world;

The songs are accompanied by simple devotional movements of basic steps and gestures and will be included when adaptable online.

The potential essences to be experienced and/or embodied in one circle are infinitely variable and participation can evoke feelings of love, joy, peace, liberation, compassion, unity, contemplation and more.

I will teach you the words (some in foreign language), melody, and movements for the Dance. Most Dances are only one to four lines long and repeated many times, so learning is usually quick and easy. Often I will provide some background history about that particular Dance.

No musical or dance experience of any kind is required, just a willingness to join in and learn and participate for the Heaven of it.  

Participation, not presentation, is the focus. Participation level can range from singing with dance movements to just singing from your chair.

No special attire is required, although comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is best.

Remember If you can if you can talk you can sing.

There is no such thing as singing out of tune, you are singing a note from another scale.

If you think you’re going to do it wrong do it strong.

BACKGROUND OF FACILITATOR KELLIE GRATTIDGE (CRYSTAL WIND)

Kellie’s love and passion for singing started out when singing in Choirs more than 20 years ago.  What particularly moved her was singing songs in different languages from other cultures such as African and Maori   Kellie really cut her chanting teeth when being drummer and singer for the Australian Sun Moon Dance every Easter for 9 consecutive years chanting traditional Native American songs specifically for Ceremony. Kellie has also experienced Kirtan and Chanting in Havans at Rocklyn Yoga Ashram, The Hare Krishna Temple, and at various events around Melbourne and has participated in a course in leading Kirtan with Chakra Baba, an active leader of Kirtan events in Melbourne and has also sung in Worship teams at Christian Churches.

Kellie first experienced the Dances of Universal Peace in the 1990’s at the Theosophical Fellowship Summer Retreat in Daylesford and felt a profound connection to herself, source and community through the experience which sowed the seed for her desire to one day facilitate this experience for others.  Kellie has been training as a leader in DOUP since 2003 under the mentorship of Raimunda Elhage and her current mentor is Amrita Tranter. 

Kellie has attended Dance Training Events and and Retreats nationally facilitated by Senior Dance Leaders from around Australia and the World. Kellie has organised and participated in workshop weekends facilitated by visiting Senior Dance Leaders, in Melbourne and Central Victoria and has facilitated Dances for the City of Kingston Multi Faith Network, Rocklyn Yoga Ashram, Regional Dance Festivals, and for the Woman’s Federation for World Peace International Day of Peace Celebration.

Kellie facilitated a regular circle for the public whilst located in Central Victoria and has started leading circles in Emerald, Victoria since 2019.Kellie is available to share Dances at weddings, birthdays, baby blessings, burials, peace gatherings, healing rituals, earth caring and ecumenical worship.

DONATIONS TO Wildlife of the Central Highlands WOTCH

WOTCH is a volunteer-run grassroots organisation dedicated to protecting Victoria's native forests through citizen science, community engagement and advocacy.

We survey in the Central Highlands of Victoria, from Toolangi in the west all the way to Baw Baw in the east. Using thermal and infrared video technology to detect threatened species in areas of forests earmarked for logging, WOTCH has protected over 1500ha from logging since it was established in 2014.

But sometimes surveying alone isn’t enough to save an area.

And now for the first time we are using litigation to secure the future of our threatened wildlife, in 2020 taking VicForests to court to protect habitat that remains after this summer’s catastrophic bushfires.

We need to raise funds to support our court case and ongoing survey activities.
