Down Syndrome NSW - Sign Language Workshops 2022
Event description
Down Syndrome NSW Sign Language Workshops 2022
Presented by the amazing Lisa Dodd, this incredibly popular and highly interactive workshop which teaches approximately 50 everyday signs plus an additional 30 signs for nursery rhymes including Galumph, Kookaburra and the Rainbow Song. Usually you learn an extra 20 or so signs throughout the workshop also.
Studies show that introducing sign language as early as possible for children with Down syndrome is high beneficial for:
- parents of children with Down syndrome or intellectual disability aged 0 up to 12 years
- early childhood and primary school educators
- grandparents and family friends
These workshops are also a great way to meet other parents in your area.
A representative from Down Syndrome NSW will be attending each workshop.
Down Syndrome NSW CEO, Emily Caska will be attending most workshops and is looking forward to meeting you and hearing how DSNSW can best support you. We are committed to our metro, regional and rural members accessing important workshops, training and support.
About Lisa Dodd: I have been using sign language for the past 23 years ever since my son, Cameron, who has Down syndrome, was born. My two daughters and I are fluent in sign language and we have been able to effectively communicate with Cameron from a very young age.
