BindiMaps is revolutionising the way that we navigate internal spaces. While BindiMaps adds a layer of convenience for most of us, it completely changes the way people with vision impairment access indoor spaces. Dr Anna Wright has developed the app to remove significant barriers to navigation and opens up a whole new world for discovery.
By employing a simple, natural-language audio system, the app describes where users are, what’s around them and the best way to get to their chosen destination. Host Helen Loughlin discusses how founder Dr Anna Wright used a network of Bluetooth beacons, sophisticated mapping and route-guidance system, and smartphone sensors to create the BindiMaps app.
SPEAKER BIO
Dr. Anna Wright is the co-founder and CEO of BindiMaps. She has more than 25 years of experience in the finance industry. She has worked as a management consultant to firms from both the early stage to IPO and trade sales. Dr. Wright holds a PhD in finance and has lectured and researched in the valuations field. She also has a personal interest in assisting people with vision loss.
