Program Description
This practical CLE guides California civil litigators through the full lifecycle of a complaint. It covers the anatomy and statutory requirements of a California civil complaint under CCP § 425.10, including fact-pleading standards, parties and capacity, Doe defendants, jurisdiction and venue, and damages pleading. It also covers amendments as of right and amendments by leave or stipulation. Designed for newer civil litigators and a useful refresher for experienced practitioners who want to sharpen their pleading practice and avoid common traps.
About the presenter
Evan W. Walker is a San Diego plaintiff attorney who represents individuals in serious personal injury and major property damage cases, including one of the largest flooding lawsuits in San Diego County history. Evan has practiced law for almost 20 years. Before founding his firm in 2015, Evan spent years on the other side, defending insurance companies in complex claims litigation, including Hurricane Katrina cases.
