    Event description

DRAG AID is back with our fourth & final instalment for the year - & just in time for Christmas! This time we're raising funds to help bring Natalie, a Wiradjuri, Kamilaroi, Ngunawal & Yuin disabled woman back to Country. Read more from Natalie's family here:

"My name is Arthur Little, and I’m raising funds for my sister, Natalie. In 2003, Natalie was a victim of domestic violence, suffering horrific injuries that have left her in a vegetative state for over two decades. This heartbreaking event has profoundly impacted Natalie and our entire family. After years of carrying the weight of this tragedy, we’ve finally reached a place where we feel ready to ask for the support we need.

We are aiming to raise $90,000 to purchase a specially-equipped vehicle that will allow us to transport Natalie to and from Country, as well as meet her medical needs. Natalie has deep cultural connections to the coast and freshwater areas through her Wiradjuri, Kamilaroi, Ngunawal, and Yuin songlines. Due to her condition, a standard wheelchair-accessible van is not sufficient—she requires a larger vehicle with specialised equipment to accommodate her needs. This van will give Natalie the freedom to reconnect with Country and access the medical care she needs with greater ease.

For over 20 years, Natalie has been confined indoors, only leaving for medical appointments via ambulance. She has missed out on critical cultural and family events that are essential for her well-being and our family’s healing. Before the incident, we regularly traveled together, embracing our cultural practices and spending time as a family. Since then, these traditions have been interrupted, as without Natalie, it feels like an integral part of our family’s spirit is missing.
Key family members, especially our mother Stella, who is the matriarch and the glue that holds our family together, have taken on full-time caregiving roles for Natalie. Because of this, they too have been unable to leave the house to engage in cultural practices, or enjoy simple moments like playing at the park with her grandchildren. The burden has been immense, but our love for Natalie keeps us strong. This vehicle would offer so much more than transport—it would restore our ability to be together, to care for each other, and to heal as a family.

If we achieve our goal, we’d love to share photos and videos of Natalie out on Country, surrounded by her family.
As an Aboriginal family, it’s been challenging to get the right kind of support for Natalie’s condition. Our needs and values often don’t align with the medical and disability systems, but what matters most to us is being able to move together as a family, sharing moments and milestones that Natalie has missed. This vehicle will help us regain that connection and provide the care Natalie deserves while supporting our family’s healing.
We’re calling on you, our extended family and community, to help make this a reality. Whether through a donation or simply sharing our story, your support means everything to us. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference. Together, we can improve Natalie’s access to medical care and bring her back to the places that nurture our families spirit.

Thank you for standing with us and supporting Natalie’s journey."
