Drama for Life (Teens 13-17) - After School Programme
Event description
Improv is a powerful way for teens to build confidence, connect with others, and learn how to roll with whatever life throws their way.
In this 8-week after-school course, teens will explore the art of improvisation through games, scene work, and creative challenges. It’s active, energising, and engaging. As they learn to make bold choices, think on their feet, and collaborate in real time, they’ll develop key life skills like:️
clear communication️
adaptability and resilience️
creative problem-solving️
teamwork and mutual support️
confidence in self-expression
Whether your teen is outgoing, introverted, or somewhere in between, improv offers a safe, supportive space to explore who they are, take risks, and discover the power of their own voice. No scripts, no pressure, just genuine connection, creative freedom, and a whole lot of fun.
The class is run by Improv Taranaki, and is facilitated by Phill Spear. He's the founder of Improv Taranaki and has been improvising for 7 years on stages around New Zealand. He has a background in youth work and positive psychology and enjoys bringing out the best in rangatahi.
With the support of the New Plymouth District Council's Creative Communities Scheme.
