DRAMATIC ACROBATICS

The performance of human feats of agility, balance, strength and flexibility within a dramatic and theatrical context. Dramatic Acrobatics is the skillful blending of dynamic and spectacular movement modalities such as: Adagio, Aerial Arts, Gymnastics, Corporeal Mime, Contortion and Stage Combat, to serve the narrative structure of a performance, and/or provide physical theatre embellishments to the vignettes and scenes of a production. This class is suitable for performing artists looking to add new skillsets, and for the curious movement practitioner.

Danny Lee Syme is creative director and a circus artist at Altiora, and also Dramatic Acrobatics tutor at the Revamped Hagley Theatre School. With 20+ years' experience in the circus-theatre world and a Master of Professional Practice in Performing Arts, he lives and breathes acrobatics. He is an Oceania Kung Fu Gold Medalist and is driven to facilitate self-exploration and encourage people to push themselves just that...little...bit...further!
