Event description

Immerse yourself in the power and beauty of moving water as you learn to paint bold, crashing cascades and soft, misty veils with confidence and skill. This workshop will guide you through techniques to bring the energy and emotion of waterfalls to life on canvas, whether you’re working in oils or acrylics.

Instruction is led by renowned Canadian artist David Langevin, celebrated for his bold landscapes and masterful painting techniques.

What to Expect:

  • Engaging Instruction and Live Demonstrations: Explore the art of painting moving water through in-depth discussions and hands-on demos.

  • Layering for Depth and Movement: Discover how to combine transparent glazes and bold opaque layers to create depth, atmosphere, and flow.

  • Capture the Energy of Water: Learn to express the rhythm, drama, and serenity of waterfalls in your own unique composition.

    Supply List:

  • Two inexpensive painting supports (approx. 16x20 or 18x24)

  • Dark pencil (5B/6B) or India ink pen

  • Gloss medium

  • Retarder or Golden Glazing Liquid (slow-drying medium)

  • Brushes, large water container, palette, and rags

  • Acrylic paints (please avoid Golden Open Acrylics)
Bring what you have—we’ll also discuss the best paint types during the workshop.
