Draw and Decorate a Russian Doll in 2D with Anna (Online)

Russian dolls have a rich and interesting history - with the first ever set created way back in 1890!

Come and discover the history of these interesting artefacts as Anna, a Russian born artist, talks you through their history, creation and evolution. 

During the class you will also be coached through the creation of your own 2D doll!

What will we cover?

- The history of the first Russian doll, how it came about and became famous all over the world
- Why no one calls it ‘Babushka’ in Russia
- The symbolism of the ‘nesting’ idea
- An exploration of Russian dolls in modern times. 
- Simple drawing techniques to help you decorate your own Russian doll in 2D 

What will you need?

• Paper
• Any colour medium (water colour, gouache, pastels, coloured pencils, coloured makers or pens)
• Lead pencil
• Eraser
• Sharpener
• Ruler

Who will be teaching?

Anna Madyarova is a Russian-born artist and founder of eto YA* studio based in Melbourne. Anna's art and teaching practice promotes the importance of being authentic, real and having meaningful conversations. Anna is an experienced educator and presenter who strives to connect with her students in a supportive and fun way. Her approach is that everyone is talented in their own way, and a good teacher can bring out amazing and unexpected in each student. You are welcome to check her website.

If you can't afford our classes but would still love to come, we would still love for you to come too! We are a not-for-profit community organisation and having you at our classes is what matters. We have introduced three different prices for our regular evening classes: $14 that covers all costs, $9 sponsored tickets for those struggling and $18 'pay it forward' tickets. If you can afford it please select the full price or pay it forward so we can continue sponsoring others who can't.

This class is delivered online via ZOOM:

• ZOOM is free to install on your Windows or Mac computer and also available as an app for your mobile/tablet device.
• You will need either the meeting link or both the meeting ID plus password.  You don't need to create an account to attend a meeting!
• If you are new to ZOOM please ensure you have downloaded and installed it in advance of the class.
• Here is a link to the ZOOM support site for a 1 minute tutorial on how to join a meeting.
• You can optionally join from a device with a camera and microphone.
